Bisnow/Allen Matkins SF Construction Summit - Eric Lamb, DPR
DPR Construction EVP Eric Lamb says 70% of the firm's build-out work over the past two years has been for technology companies. With the likes of Facebook, Apple, and Google running buses from San Francisco south to their campuses, technology is the driving force behind the need for housing downtown. Internally, DPR has gone from zero to 200 tablets in the field over the past 18 months. On a pilot project for the UCSF Medical Center, DPR was allowed to do a more integrated delivery with early selection of subcontractors, and it's worked out so well, DPR likely would refuse to competitive bid a hospital project again because "there's no way to avoid all the issues that we used to have with hospitals."
