Bisnow/Allen Matkins SF Construction Summit - Rodney Fong, San Francisco Planning Commission

Rodney Fong, president of Fong Real Estate and the San Francisco Planning Commission, led with some opening remarks. His company owns the wax museum at Fisherman's Wharf, and Rodney sees no waning in the City. From a real estate and development perspective, it's the best of times. Some things the planning department will be addressing: formula retail stores and incentivizing small business to open shop in parts of town that need revitalization, He also mentioned the planning department's new permit tracking system. Rodney's bullish because of projects like Pier 70 and the relocation of the Exploratorium to Piers 15 and 17, because the City needs walkable anchor locations. What else the San Francisco need?:More hotel rooms to make the Moscone Center competitive with convention centers in San Diego and Las Vegas.
